Mar Casado Class Design 696

on Sunday, January 18, 2015

This is an interesting little boat. The design is based on the lines of Temperance (design #387) which was in turn based on the lines of Nugget (design #172) but is scaled down to 25 overall length. This version however is a flush decker. Heres an article from Yachting magazine from 1947. I apologize that its not a very good copy.

As the article states the first bunch of boats were built in South America, but later various other builders produced these boats such as Derecktor Shipyards of New York.

Here is the sail plan.

This looks like a one page handout about the design.

Please note the very last line on this handout: Alternate plans available showing dog house with full headroom under. Heres an image of that arrangement. To me this then is in essence the Temperance design on a smaller scale.

Principal Dimensions
LOA 25-3"
LWL 19-0"
Beam 7-6"
Draft 4-1"
Displacement 6,500 lbs
